Terence Hill

In the summer 2010 we were able to welcome a special guest here at our hotel and although the
Terence Hill from film and television actor known.

The main setting for this lavish production is the Braies Lake. The twelve-part Italian TV ser
ies "Un
passo dal cielo", was produced on behalf of RAIUNO, from the Roman production company Lux Vide.

In the series, Terence Hill plays the lead role. He represents a forestry official named Pietro,
who tried
in accordance with the natural world. Other roles were filled with the famous opera singer Katia Ricca-
relli, Francesco Salvi.

The stories are told, combine the genre of adventure with the magical scenery of the Dolomi
tes, in par-
ticular the Pragser wild lake. Detective film and comedy, dramas and stories about love and friendship,
secrets from the past, a juxtaposition of nature, animals and people that are held together with exci-
ting stories.

After the huge success of the first series, this year will resume filming new episodes.

Lake Braies

Braies has it all. This friendly piece of countryside offers extraordinary experience for hikers of all kids:
from easy hikes for families to ambitious treks for more motivated hikers, to physical challenges for
those who want to push their limits.

Hiking tours starting from here range from easy and picturesque tours like the sea round, to challeng-
ing tours to the top of the Croda del Becco or the Dolomite high trails No. 1.

Hiking is relaxing! There’s something special in being a part of nature and sometimes something secret.
Hiking also involves learning for life, and there is a great deal to learn abaut this natural and cultural
region. Hiking trails are windows on nature, revealing what those who hurry by on the highway will ne-
ver see.

The Chapel of the Hotel Lago di Braies

The hotel`s chapel is one of the most beautiful sights at Lake Braies. Its architecture, like that of the
hotel itself, is in complete harmony with the surrounding mountains.

The chapel was designed by Otto schmid, the same architect who designed the hotel. It was intended
as the Hellenstainer family `s private chapel, and to allow the hotel guests and staff to attend worship
services. It was consecrated to Our Lady of Sorrows on July 3, 1904.

After the arrival of the SS hostages at Lake Braies, the little church was the scene of a moving event.

In a service on May 1, 1945, the liberated prisoners stood here at an altar, for the first time in freedom,
praying and taking hope for a new life. Fey von Hassell, the daughter of Ulrich von Hassell, the former
German Ambassador to Italy who was later executed in Plötzensee prison in Berlin, wrote in a memoir
of her internment under the SS regime:

"Canon Neuhäusler, who had joined us in Dachau, wanted to say a Mass in the chapel near the hotel.
In his simple, moving sermon, he thanked God for His protection and our miraculous rescue. This little
mountain chapel, so isolated from the rest of the world, was the perfect place to give thanks - thanks
that we all felt deeply."
